100 Year Anniversary Match v
Bowls England (6th July 2023)
We had a fantastic 100th Anniversary game against Bowls England, in the sunshine and by the sea-side. A fantastic meal was served after the game, which saw representatives from 13 Counties attend to play for Bowls England. Thanks to Bowls England 2023 President Deepak Tanna and his team for a really enjoyable afternoon.

Thorpe Bay Bowling Club Tour 2023
Pathos in Cyprus
The Club had a great tour to Pathos in Cyprus from March 20th to 27th, 2023. Just under 30 members traveled from Stansted. Here are some pictures. Noel Hudson kindly wrote an Ode to commemorate the Tour (see the PDF above). One of our teams jointly won the Hotel Weekend bowls competition (see the 3rd picture below), but lost on a one-bowl shoot out!

Thorpe Bay Bowling Club Tour 2019
Armacao De Pera in Portugal
We set off for Portugal in good humour from Southend Airport but by the time we arrived in Faro we had 3 members in wheel chairs,
Dick Fenn had ordered one as there is a long passage through the airport. Bob Potter was not at his best and joined Dick, and Geoff Baker had a funny turn when he tried to get out of his seat.
We all made it to the Holiday Inn and assembled in the Bar to catch up and prepare for our first match on day 2 at Valverde B. C. We were not able to claim a win but best rink for TBBC were Peter Franklin: Mo Moody: Lesley Trenaman: Brian Gillard:
Day 3 was a free day, and on day 4 we played at Tavira B.C. and had our first winning rink with Keith Hall: Chris Fenn: Bob Potter: Brian Gillard:
Day 5 Saw us at Floresta B.C. who have a very fast Mat to play on which we all had trouble with, but our winning rink was Colin Brooklyn: Peter Franklyn: Maurice Garner: Brian Gillard:
Day 6 was Safari Day and a number of our band had a good day
off-roading in a Land Rover.
The last day took us to Pedras da Rainha B.C. where we made full use of our subs Sally Hall and our Courier João, our winning rink was Colin Brooklyn: Keith Hall: Bob Potter: (João); David Andrassy.
We mainly ate in the hotel but arranged 2 meals at local restaurants which everyone enjoyed, All in all a good tour and we are still working on coming home with a match win.
